Summary for the Kogayon Association Report 2024

The Kogayon Association in 2024 consolidated its position as the driving force of sustainable development in Oltenia under the mountain, moving from a volunteer-based organization to a professional one, with an administrative structure and a hired team. The activity was focused around the development of the **Oltenia de Sub Munte – aspirant UNESCO Geopark* project, promoting the natural and cultural values of the area, environmental education, research and ecotourism, in close dialogue with local communities.

Each employee can decide whether 3.5% of the tax owed to the state remains in the budget or is directed to a cause in which they believe. By choosing to support us, they contribute directly to the protection of nature and the sustainable development of local communities.

Through the sums raised, we have carried out essential projects for the conservation of the environment and the development of responsible tourism, including:
• Studies to protect the Comarnic Virgin Forest
• Reconstruction of two tourist refuges in Buila-Vânturarita National Park
• Creation and maintenance of thematic routes and tourist infrastructure in Oltenia below the mountain
• Educational programs for children, such as Ranger Junior
• Tourist guides and informative materials for locals and visitors

We are currently running projects that support local entrepreneurship, biodiversity conservation and the promotion of the region as an experiential tourism destination, both nationally and internationally.
